I’d like to start out by telling you a little about myself and how I came to meet Michael Dutro. I was a Freshman just starting to play competitive high school golf. My grandparents bought me a set of clubs right off the shelf from Walmart. I’m a 4.0 student that always strives to achieve at the highest level possible. When I started out playing golf for my high school coach in the summer, he never imagined that same year that I would end up making the varsity team and becoming his #2 player. My coach even asked if he could observe some of my lessons with Michael because of how quickly I was achieving my goals.
I have known Michael Dutro for a little over a year now. He has been my teaching professional for golf ever since my uncle took me to Miles Of Golf in Ypsilanti, Michigan last year. My golf journey started when I started taking lessons from Michael. After just a few lessons with him I realized that his style of teaching was easy to understand and straightforward. Michael has encouraged me as a golfer to always perform at my best and has given me the right tools to do so. He’s always been a phone call away whenever a problem with my swing arises. He has always demonstrated professional behavior around myself as a student. Michael has not only taught me about golf but has also taught me about life skills. As a golfer, you come to realize that you’re going to have points in your career where you struggle beyond belief and feel like you’re trapped. With Michael's help I have been able to eliminate the stress that an everyday golfer experiences. His calm approach to teaching proves to show successful results but he is quick to correct myself as well as other students if he believes they are not performing to their full potential.
Michael Dutro has many ways of teaching one skill. If I am personally struggling to understand something he is trying to explain, he will give me multiple ways to achieve the task. Personally I learn the best through technical terms and visual tools. Although this is not the only way Michael has taught me, I find that it works the best for me. He has given me drills and other references to help me through my struggles. With this method of teaching, Michael has taken me from shooting in the low 60s high 50s, to shooting in the high 40s low 50s, on 9 holes in less than 6 months. With the high confidence Michael has instilled in me, I joined the jackson Junior Golf Association to compete in tournaments this summer. In just three tournaments so far, I have taken a second and a third in my division.
In conclusion, with Michael's help, I have achieved so much and plan to continue to get better. I plan to continue lessons with Michael for years to come and hopefully play college golf one day. I would not be where I am today without the help of Michael Dutro.
